Garbage in Garbage out

In a country where we could not imagine having a fast food restaurant on every corner where we can get a cheap hamburger for pennies on the dollar, it is hard to imagine that one country has gotten ride of the Mcdonalds chain all together.
In 2009, Iceland closed its last Mcdonalds doors for good. Today, there is not one single Mcdonalds arch anywhere to be seen in the entirety of the country. However that dosnt mean its food is gone. A man by the name of Hjörtur Smárason purchased a value meal containing a hamburger and fries on October 30th 2009 and it is still around today. It was stored in a shelf on his garage for several years and has now been moved to the National Museum of Iceland. There it is on display for everyone to see as it slowly decays. It is as well being live streamed over the internet for all to see.
The burger is now almost 5 years old and well over 1000 days old. And yet, it looks remarkably the same. Showing how the food chains preservatives are a scary thing to put into your body. Below is a link to the live stream if any of you would like to see the burger and fries that defy time itself.

  1. This is a really cool find! Kinda scary, and I almost feel morbid looking at it so preserved under a glass like a dead friend. "Goodbye good friend" after seeing this I might think twice before eating it again. ;)
