The Video Game Streaming Industry

A profession that is fueling the lives of many young gamers today is the Twitch.Tv streaming website. It is a website where you can set up a channel for yourself similar to Youtube and play video games which allow people to watch you play in real time. Weird concept right? Well it is a booming website and has many people making quite a bit of money.
Lets talk more about the logistics of how the money is actually made. When you create a channel people get the option to either follow your channel, which is free and will give them a notification whenever you are online and start playing a game. The other option is to subscribe, which will cost a certain amount of money determined by yourself, usually about 2.99. When you subscribe you pay that fee once a month to help fund the players channel. You also have the option to donate a certain amount of money to the player determined by the person watching. The person playing the game also can play an assortment of ads that the people watching will then watch and you earn a certain amount of money per add multiplied by the number of viewers watching which is the most efficient away of making the money.
So basically, you get people to watch you, people donate from their good will, you play adds to earn money form the company whose adds they are. The more people watching, the more money you make.

World Wide Sales

I just wish to take a moment to appreciate the expanse of sales opportunities that the internet now provides us in todays world. From amazon to the simple website for Walmart. Purchasing something from your own home has never been easier.
I recently got my motorcycle license and research on buying my first bike is much more easy than it would ever have been say 20 years ago. I researched and found my bike in about a week without really leaving my house. I found bikes all around my area of living but the one i settled on was not near me in any sense. The bike I purchased was a 2009 Honda Rebel, from Greensburg, PA. I managed to contact the seller, get the contact history, have a trusted mechanic look at the bike and have the bike shipped to me from PA all for less than i would have paid for any bike around me.
That is a 600lb motorcycle, that is a a large item to have to ship and move across the country, but thanks to todays technology i was able to get it all sorted in less than 4 weeks. I just find that amazing. Not only that but many of the items i have with me here at school have been purchased over the internet and shipped to me with in days of my purchase. I have posters from Poland that took a week to get here. The sheer power and efficiency to todays postal system and online shopping is amazing and can only get better as the time goes by with the privitization of the postal system.

The Next Next Big Thing

Samsung, one of the largest and best selling phone companies will be bringing its new flagship phone to the world in the next year.
Sony's strong point has always been innovation over the repetitive iPhone brand. It has once again put its foot into the deep end and is releasing its new phone with a 3 point screen. The Galaxy Note edge is the next step in Samsung's note series. Not only will it be toting its large screen, slim design and ease of use and custom-ability that it has always brought to the game. This phone however has its screen stretch past and reach around to the side where the volume button and power buttons used to be allowing for the thumbs easy reach to use all of the home screens usual features.

Easy info but lack there of.

In a time when  any information that you could possibly need can be fit into your pocket, a lot of people are not versed on anything outside of pop culture. A quick remedial google search can show that within the top 10 most visited websites world wide 6 of the top 10 are social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. The internet is a much like a weapon, in the right hands it can be used for the greater good and improve the world to be the best it can be. But it has been thrown into a generation of kids who is interested in instant gratification and satisfaction, they are not interested in anything beyond what is in front of them immediately and focus on what they see on their Facebook pages. Now, i am not writing this to condemn this generation or to scold them, but as a warning or a plea. Strive to be more than the average teen, or college student that knows every word to Taylor Swifts blank space but cant list the first 5 U.S presidents in order. Google responsibly.

Garbage in Garbage out

In a country where we could not imagine having a fast food restaurant on every corner where we can get a cheap hamburger for pennies on the dollar, it is hard to imagine that one country has gotten ride of the Mcdonalds chain all together.
In 2009, Iceland closed its last Mcdonalds doors for good. Today, there is not one single Mcdonalds arch anywhere to be seen in the entirety of the country. However that dosnt mean its food is gone. A man by the name of Hjörtur Smárason purchased a value meal containing a hamburger and fries on October 30th 2009 and it is still around today. It was stored in a shelf on his garage for several years and has now been moved to the National Museum of Iceland. There it is on display for everyone to see as it slowly decays. It is as well being live streamed over the internet for all to see.
The burger is now almost 5 years old and well over 1000 days old. And yet, it looks remarkably the same. Showing how the food chains preservatives are a scary thing to put into your body. Below is a link to the live stream if any of you would like to see the burger and fries that defy time itself.
